x,y data display

I got a question, I'm adding about 20 gps points and when i go to add them the Longitude data doesn't come over! Everything else comes over, any ideas what i'm doing wrong. It's from an excel file. also how do you add new gps data to an existing layer

Is the longitude data there in the original file before you load it into a Table
