I'm making edits in my attribute table, but my save button is grayed out, which isn't normal. How do I ensure I don't lose my work?

See Undo geoprocessing tools—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop (what version of Pro are you using, because it looks like it is now called Enable Undo...)
They will behave that way if the features are open for editing somewhere else.
I figured it out, you don't have to save edits with they are made with the field calculator.
