I have built several locators that do not pertain to all the Maps I have created. I do not want the user to need to select which one to use. I would like to designate which locators (geocoder) are available in which map. Any suggestions on how to do this?

I think so - maybe add an ArcGIS ideas site post to improve the experience.
Jim,
The only possible configuration I am aware of (for defining which locators are available for use and which one is default) is you can define the geocoders for your organization and thus each webmap created will use those based on the orgs settings.
Open your organizations site:
My Organization > Utility Services > Geocoding
You can configure the search experience in a map to also support searching features:

Robert, i agree that this only promotes the service, it doesn't make the others not appear in a web map.
Bruce, this at first appeared like what i wanted, but i do not see how it makes the others go away for the map. Am i reading correctly that this is possible?
If you publish your web map as an app with the Simple Map Viewer you do have the option to configure what locators are exposed. I believe several other apps include this functionality as well.
Kyle is correct if you use your webmap in JS API you can configure the search widget to use which ever locators you wish. Web AppBuilder also allows you to configure the Search widget.
We don't make it that easy, you have to configure search too:

The remaining annoyance is you can't prioritize feature or address search if both are on.
How about creating an app with web-app builder and configuring the search widget with the appropriate geocode service?

After reviewing all the posts which I thank you all for, I have yet to get the App or Map to eliminate the other geocoders. it appears possible from the posts, but the selected coder is not what the App opens with.
Kyle, I cannot find those search settings which appear to be a solution.
Bruce, the link is broken for me, but this link I found appears to be what I want, however the about & more details do not appear.
https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/create-maps/configure-feature-search.htm
the more details I found out gets the same as clicking on it in My Contents. No option for GeoCoder.
Yes, the experience in a web map is you get a pulldown to let you choose what you search for.
Bruce, so is the answer, "You have a pulldown of all the locators", and not "You can select which locator for the Map/App and do not show the others."
Just covering all bases but have you added your locators/geocoders to the Utility Services section in your ArcGIS Online for Organizations settings? If they are not available here they will not be available in the Search Settings on the Simple Map Viewer app or in Web AppBuilder.
thanks Kyle, my desire is just the opposite of getting the geocoder available. I want to make some un-available in certain maps. Bruce suggests that this is not possible, however some of these posts suggest that it is. if I find a way to do it I will post back. otherwise, thanks all for the suggestions.
it appears that i can customize a search
Configure feature search—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS
And then if i want to disable the geocode services i have built, or just leave them and the Map will default to the one i created just for this map and layer.
this appeared to be what i wanted to do. The search widget now contains only one locator.
However, i do not know how to get rid of the original search box.
thanks
