Fractal Dimension

Question

Hi all,

I want to calculate the fractal dimension of a road network (Polyline) layer. How can I do this in ArcGIS?. Does anyone have a source code for it?

Hi H.V.,

I have also looked around for, but have not yet found, any code to do this.  There has been some work done towards using the box-counting method to analyze the fractal dimension of a road network; see the links below.

It might be somewhat easier to work up (in ArcMap) a geoprocessing model to use the box-counting method, than it would be to attempt the same using the ArcGIS API for JavaScript.  I may tinker around with this idea in my spare time, but I make no promises.  🙂
