Need help coordinate system to OSM

Question

Hello eveyone,

I have a shapefile with unknown coordinate system, and have another with WGS 1984, and I need to match both in order to use in JOSM.  i've tried various instructions to project but without sucess. I tried to define profjection , but I do not know the coordinate system of the shapefile, what should I do. I don't have much experience in arcgis.

Well, unfortunately I got the error message that the zip file is empty. If you open the properties of the shapefile (load in ArcMap, and right click in the Table of contents), select the source tab, and post a screenshot of the result, I might be able to help you from that.

Hi Joao, I'll have a look at it, but the basic idea would be to look at the extent of the shapefile, and guess the projection from what is listed there. What part of the world are you working in?
