Can i add raster image to arcgis explorer that is already opened,from another application.

Question

I have an arcgis explorer application opened. Can i add imagery to the opened application by clicking on the links in another application.Say i have dynamic links of imagery in one application. When i click on it, can the image be opened on already running Arcgis application .Right now even if i double click on the raster file, it opens in a new arcgis explorer..is there any way to open it in the existing arcgis explorer application either from file location of programmatically from outside arcgis explorer

If you use NMC files,  Explorer's "layer file"  the .NMC will open in the running Explorer Desktop.   This would require creating .NMC files for your data...
