Hello, I am working with the Zamani Project at the University of Capetown

I am new to ArcGis online, tasked with moving our team's GIS information, shape files, vector files, etc. from our local server to the Esri Cloud. The goal is to publish a storyboard that shows our info. 

Starting off, using this file path, I am unable to upload a shape file...

Are you selecting the <filename>.shp? FYI: You need to zip the shapefile first, then you can select and add it via the Add Item dialog.
