Comparing/Importing replica schema changes

Question

I have a two-way replica and added a couple subtypes on a feature class in one of the geodatabases.

When I run the compare replica tool, it doesn't notice the subtype change.

Is this normal?

What's the proper way of keeping the schemas the same? Do I have to add the subtypes manually on each replica?

What version of ArcGIS are you using?

Yeah, I've looked at pretty much all the documentation.

I'm using 10.2.1 and I've used the compare replica successfully before with updated domains, but not with Subtypes.

I guess I'm wondering whether Subtypes are included or not in the compare replica tool. And if not, what's the correct way to add them to both replicas? Just manually through ArcCatalog?

The documentation is not very clear.
