ArcScene 10: Can't assign constant value to raster?

Question

With ArcScene 9.x it was possible to assign a constant value for a raster layer's base height. The base heights property page at 10 has been redesigned and now when setting base heights for raster layers the constant value option is grayed out (the dialogue makes it look like you can only ever do that with vector layers).

I thought it may be an issue with certain raster formats, but it seems that TIFF, FileGDB, ArcINFO Grid, and USGS DEM all do not work.

Has anyone else been able to assign a constant height value to a raster? Or is this another feature that has been removed with the new version? Could we have it back please?

Elevation from features will remain greyed out as it applies to features.  The default setting for rasters is 'No elevation values from surface' so that should already be selected.  To assign an elevation, put that value at the bottom under 'Layer offset.'  Once this is applied the raster should maintain the constant elevation.

In ArcGIS 10, you can assign a constant value to a raster by selecting the option, "No elevation values from a surface" then in the Layer offset section you can "Add a constant elevation offset in scene units".  The layer offset is where you specify the constant value you want.

Dear Eric,

I can't find a solution for this problem. I have a raster file that I created by interpolating point data but I can't find a way to assign constant elevation. It is always inactive. I tried a workaround by converting raster to polygon and assign the values for it and it worked but still I would like to be able to do the process with rasters. I suppose it is related with the attributes of the raster but don't hava clue.

I have a few .tif images I'm trying to assign to a constant value. There are about 6 .tif images and I want to assign them to corresponding point shape files in the Table of Contents. It seems that no matter what I do I can't get the .tif files to be assigned to a constant value. It's always grayed out. Is it no longer possible to assign .tif files to constant values?
