I was wondering if its possible to add someone to a private group but when they view the map make it so they can only view and not make any changes or edits?

Randy,

Are you talking about two people being able to change, for example, the layers in a web map? Subscriptions will not provide this ability. We have discussed the notion of shared ownership of items, which would allow multiple people to edit it, however there is no current plan to implement this feature. However, we are aware of the need, especially with respect to group, where everyone might want to edit an item.

If you are talking about editing features, then shared editing of features is possible if the layer in the web map references a feature service.

In general, items share with a group cannot be modified by other group members. A group member will be able to open a webmap, and make changes to it, but they won't be able to save the changes back to the map. They can only make a copy of the map with their changes. There is one exception to this rule when the map contains a layer that references a feature service. If that feature service allows anonymous editing, then anyone can edit the features in that layer.

Is this going to change for the Organization subscription?  We want clients to be able to edit (and save) maps that we've shared with them, not just to be able to edit then save them in their own account.
