How to set permissions at the level of fields?

I have been looking up to ESRI if they can provide a solution through ArcMAP for the above requirement. I have already reviewed an article on the above (refer URL), but is there any possibility that ESRI is working on this in distant future. Any plans ?

I believe this is the most important requirement considering data security and management point of view.

How to set permissions at the level of fields?
