Raster Performance Slow with the Local Service

Using the Desktop Samples DynamicLayerAddData, I have attempted to add rasters of varying formats. In all cases, I am seeing very slow performance.

Is there a better way to go about this that will improve the performance with rasters? Perhaps some tweaking of settings? And...why do I have to push image files stored on a network path through the local service to begin with. Can we have something like the new direct access for shapefiles available for rasters!?

Try having the data locally rather than on a network path, and make sure the data has image pyramids generated.

Direct-read of raster files are currently on our roadmap for v10.3.
