Validating edits server side.

Hello,

I am trying to build an application which records how many people agree with a specific user added item on a map. I am using this sample for reference: Query and edit related records | ArcGIS API for JavaScript

I am wondering if there is any way to validate the input from applyEdits server-side? Because, as it stands now a person can make their own API call to change the number of people in agreement to any number they want.
