When editing GIS layers with Web App Builder and SDE, what do you recommend versioned or un-versioned layers?

If you are not currently doing any versioning then you are more than likely safe just editing the default version.

For layers that are going to be edited only on the web, do you recommend to edit in the Default SDE or to create a version and edit the child version.
Versioning is required for a FeatureService which is what JS API need to use to edit data.
Well, with ArcMAp you can edit an SDE layer that is not versioned.

You can not do any editing of a SDE GIS Layer without having it versioned.
