How to copy Pro projects to another computer?

I have a laptop for emergency/remote work situations. As Hurricane Dorian approached, I copied my GIS projects and data to the same folders on the laptop. They are all sourced from the same data locations on the hard drive or on SDE. With ArcMap, the mxds open. With Pro, they open, but never get to the end of the process, spinning infinitely. What am I missing?

The data on the network is the same. Most of the data I use regularly is in a file gdb on the C: drive.

One possible workflow to move AGP projects to a laptop for emergency/remote work locations is to use a ArcGIS Pro Project Package.  Granted it does make a copy of your data so there is that.  Do you need the backup to reference the same data on your network vs. data in the project package?
