Trouble editing Map Series in the builder

I am attempting to update links to images (using the story map builder) in a map series so that it references https://, however most of the time the edit "pencil" icon in the corner does not open an edit window. Sometimes builder does not even show the edit icon at all! However, sometimes it works just fine. It is inconsistent and I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I am using Chrome, but I have also attempted to use firefox with the same results.
