In Experience Builder Developer Edition (1.21), if a widget's files fail to load, the widget shows "Cannot read properties of null (reading 'default')". Closing and reopening the widget shows the same error. The only fix is refreshing the page, which loses any unsaved work like drawings.
My hypothesis is that this happens when the app is redeployed while someone already has it open, and they then open a widget for the first time.
To reproduce
- Open a deployed app, but don't open a widget that sits in a widget controller.
- Redeploy the app.
- Open the widget. The error appears and stays until the page is refreshed.
Suggestion: try loading the widget again the next time it's opened, and show a plain "couldn't load, try again" message instead of the raw error.
