Highlight and edit groups of items on map

I would like the ability to highlight a group of pins, lines, polygons, etc on the map by dragging a box or drawing a polygon around them, and then being able to move them to their own folder and/or mass edit their properties such as name, icon, color, etc.

I was just having a discussion last week with our lead PE on this exact behavior enhancement. There are a couple of in-scene multi-select behaviors we are interested in exploring. Please feel free to provide your feedback on the potential patterns below:

1. Hold down Shift Key to select multiple individual layers/features in the scene.

2. Hold down Shift + [Additional Key] to select by area of interest. (Draw a box)

Also, one question:

Is the desired behavior for My Drawings/KML, Feature Layers, or Both?
