creating water quality monitoring reporting tools

Hi,

I recently got a contract for program coordinator position, and my first task has been to create some type of survey to collect data for 5 different sites that are going to be monitored for water quality(nitrate/nitrite/e.coli/algea) weekly over next 6 months. They also want a map with all of the results.

I first started out thinking maybe a google form and a mymaps would suffice, but I was wrong because I kept having to manually upload the data and it kept breaking. So, I am now considering the ESRI route. I am thinking a survey123 would a good option, but I'd like to get some input and maybe a webApp, since they are wanting a final map showing all the data collected.

Related tables or relationship classes can be created using either ArcGIS Pro or S123 Connect. Since you are new to Esri and only have five locations, using ArcGIS Pro or S123 Connect to create relationships may be more effort than necessary. Instead, you can use the following approach -

1. You have already created a feature layer containing your five site locations.
2. In S123 Web create a new survey with a Site ID field of type Choice.
3. Rather than creating new site records, configure the survey to reference the existing feature layer by selecting Edit > From Layer.
4. Complete and publish your survey form.

This approach will result in two feature layers that are not related through a relationship class. You can use the original feature layer to display the site locations and the Survey123 feature layer to display the inspection records. Both layers can then be visualized together in a single dashboard.

ohh I hadn't even thought about the dashboard feature!

I'm still learning my way around survey123, and I've been watching tutorial on how to do this. I first created a feature layer with the 5 collection sites and then attempted to link that feature layer to the survey123 which seemed to have worked, but once I publish and give a try, I wasn't able to submit any data. Would you happen to have a suggestion for a good tutorial on how add a related table and to avoid collecting a new position for each of the site every time a submission is completed?

S123 is great for your project. You can also generate reports inside S123 web app. You can utilize Dashboards for presenting the map and data. You get all the tools inside ArcGIS Online. One suggestion, for your job you might want to use related tables and not collect a new position for your site every time.
