I have created a Survey123 form using the Survey123 Connect workflow. To achieve a fielduser requirement I created an offline-use MMPK basemap using ArcGIS Pro. That was initially uploaded as an item to my Enterprise account, visible via my web portal, which I linked to via the Survey123 Connect "Linked Content" page, but this would not display as a choosable basemap in my mobile device's Survey123 app.
Troubleshooting, I found the workaround was to put the MMPK file into my Survey123 Connect \media\ folder and republish. However as started checking and revising the MMPK (offline basemap) I noted that there were effectively 2 versions of it... 1st as published to **somewhere** was the basemap going to the mobile device, whereas the 2nd was an Enterprise item which was "linked to" in Survey123 Connect (but seemingly not being used).
Because it was a large MMPK file (400 MB) this explained to me the 20 sec "download" for my Survey123 mobile device's project, which populated the offline basemap. However I also noted there was an option in the mobile device for "download offline basemap", which I guess is pulling from the Enterprise web portal item (but is effectively superfluous).
Thinking about this, I also have 4x lookup CSVs that were published up from Survey123 Connect's \media\ folder, which were also uploaded as new content to my Enterprise account's web portal, and then "linked" within the Survey123 Connect "Linked Content" page. I suspect something similar might be happening, with the Survey123 Connect "publish" function effectively bundling all files within the \media\ folder up to **somewhere**, then pulling it down to the mobile device's Survey123 app whenever it does a "download surveys" project update (in fact I know it happens for the CSV files because I see their filenames download on a popup).
I've searched the Survey123 guidance but cannot find clarity on this. Given that my offline MMPK file is 400 MB I would prefer not to have it stored in my Enterprise account's web portal if it's not required... or I would more properly have it named (or if not possible... described) as suffix "_BACKUP". Similar for the Lookup CSVs. This has implications for conflicting "single source of truth" instances, and I have to remember to update both the Survey123 Connect \media\ MMPK & lookup CSV items, as well as items in my Enterprise Account.
- Furthermore, where / what is the **somewhere** that the Survey123 Connect published project bundle goes to?
- Can it's files be viewed? Does having large items (e.g. 400 MB MMPK file) in it affect things or have space / finance issues?
- Is there a "download lookup CSV" option similar to the "download offline basemaps" option in mobile device's Survey123 app?
- Does the fielduser know what basemap / CSV source he or she is using?
