Ch 4 problem Top 20 Essential Skills for Imagery and Remote Sensing 2026

Question

Using ArcGIS Pro 3.7. Downloaded tutorial data for Chapters 2 and 3 with zero problems.

Chapter 4 tutorial data seemed fine until the "Create the mosaic dataset container" section. The geodatabase option for New --> Mosaic Dataset is grayed out.

Cannot proceed. Deleted the download and downloaded/extracted again. Same result.

Hi Joan!

To start, are you using an ArcGIS Pro Standard or ArcGIS Pro Advanced license? If yes, you can try a different way to create the mosaic dataset. In the Geoprocessing tools pane, search for the Create Mosaic Dataset tool and open it. For Output Location, click the Browse button and find the Top20Imagery_04.gdb. It should be under Project > Databases.

Do you have a Basic license or Standard or Advanced.  It seems that some functionality requires a license above basic.

Not sure what the book is using, you will have to be more specific about what tools that they are referring to.
