Multiple Copies of Maps & Layouts

Question

Hello,  I've noticed that in an ArcGIS Pro Project, when I go to Catalog pane > Project > Maps and double click a named Map there (say "Friday Map A"), while the map's title shows up just once in the Maps section of Catalog, a copy of the original 'map tab' gets created (in the row/line of tabs just above the data view type window), named "Friday Map A 2/2".  If I double click it in Catalog later in the day, yet another one gets created... "Friday Map A 3/3", etc.

A couple questions:  1) Should I not be using the Catalog  > Map link to open the Map view?  2) Is there a setting I can change that will cause Pro to now Copy the Map to new versions each time I double click the named map in the Catalog pane.

When you double-click a map, it only opens another view of the same map content. Each double-click opens a new map view/tab, which is expected behavior.

If you want to create a permanent copy of the map, right-click it and use Copy/Paste to clone it from Catalog/Maps.
