Update (05-06/2026): Added information regarding local DNS connectivity enhancements for ArcGIS for SharePoint.
Edit SharePoint data directly on the map
One of the most requested capabilities is finally here: full editing support for SharePoint lists and document libraries.
You can now:
- Edit geometry (move points, reshape features)
- Update attributes
- Delete features directly from the map
This works not only for ArcGIS hosted feature layers – but now also for SharePoint lists and document libraries.
Even better:
- Start with an empty list or document library and create features from scratch
- Use the Editor tool directly in the ArcGIS web part
- Or launch editing through the “Edit in map view” command set extension (formerly Edit locations) from the top menu of your SharePoint list or library
This means your SharePoint data is no longer just rows and columns - it’s fully interactive and spatial.
Select features with precision using “Select by attribute”
Using the “Select by attribute” feature, you can now quickly find specific features visually without any SQL expertise.
The new Select by attribute tool allows you to:
- Build query expressions using an intuitive UI
- Filter features based on field values and conditions
- Instantly highlight results on the map
This makes it easier to answer questions like:
- Which assets are overdue for inspection?
- Which locations meet specific criteria?
Richer visualizations with new symbol types
Data visualization got a major upgrade in this release.
We’ve added new symbol types which include:
- Pie and donut charts showing multiple values by location
- Predominant category for highlighting dominant values
These enhancements help you turn complex datasets into clear, actionable insights – directly on your SharePoint pages.
Geotag by coordinates with custom basemaps
With this release:
- You can now use custom basemaps while using the geotag by coordinates feature
- Geotag by coordinates feature will now work with Projected Coordinate System (PCS) basemaps
Resolved an issue where users were blocked from connecting the ArcGIS for SharePoint app when using a local DNS
- Connectivity to ArcGIS Enterprise: Helps users on internal/on-premise portals.
- Browser Restrictions: Overcomes "Local Network Access" restrictions often found in newer browser versions (like Chrome 142+)
