Peruvian Geospatial Researcher Working on GIS, Remote Sensing, and Environmental Data Science

Hello Esri YPN community!

My name is Mario Caceres Reyna, a Geographic Engineer from Peru and currently a Master’s student in Data Science. I have over five years of experience working on applied research and geospatial analysis related to environmental monitoring, territorial planning, and remote sensing.

Throughout my professional journey, I have collaborated with public institutions, research groups, and conservation initiatives, integrating satellite imagery, GIS analysis, and data science to study topics such as land cover change, biodiversity, forest fires, and urban dynamics. I am particularly interested in exploring how Spatial AI and satellite data can support environmental monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.

I joined this community to connect with geospatial professionals around the world, exchange ideas, and learn about innovative applications of GIS.

I am especially interested in discussions around:

Hello Mario!

It is nice to meet you! I was wondering if you had a particular topic of interest in the urban/territorial analysis scope. Are you more interested in socioeconomics in a GIS lens, or more interested in a green infrastructure development aspect? Just two topics that were top of mind but I am eager to hear about what you find most interesting about GIS and urban analysis.
