forms disappearing

Why does my Field Map form keep disappearing?

I see old posts on this ('21 '22) but nothing recent. I am not using the classic map viewer. I'm  ENT portal on 11.5. AGOL is not an option for this particular case.

I create a form - verify with field crew that it is what they need - work on tweaking the symbology in map viewer based on feedback - field map form gone. I'm not sure this is the exact work flow each time - but seems to be the most recent. 
Why is this a thing?
What is the work around?

I have an entire asset management system to rebuild. I need field crews to have forms and I need to be able to make changes to the web maps as they go and I learn more about what they need.

This was relatively common when users are working in multiple tabs/windows and switching between map viewer, map viewer classic and the field maps designer.

Basically you make an update to the web map in Field Maps designer, switch to the Map Viewer tab that doesn't have the updates and save there, and it'll override the field maps designer update.

To avoid this:

* Do not use the Map Viewer Classic
* Do not make updates to the map in several tabs/windows at the same time
* Only have one active tab open - Map Viewer OR Field Maps Designer
* If working side by side with map viewer / designer, refresh the alternate window after saving changes in one.
