As of now scale based display filters can be authored in Arcgis Pro.
For our organization it would be very usefull to be able to do this in Arcgis Online too.
I have a layer containing permit applications. Applicants can draw these on the map themselves (if it does not involve just a single address). E.g. in case of an event in the open field or an activity that extends across multiple addresses or a road. Sometimes however, they include the entire area of our municipality (e.g. for an outdoor activity containing a large area). This overlaps the smaller areas, which makes the layer less usable for smaller areas. I would like to exclude the large areas on smaller zoom levels.
The objects on the map could for instance be linked to different zoom levels based on the shape_area attribute.
I have solved this for now by adding (and grouping) several duplicates of the permits layer using filters.
This is on our roadmap to add support for authoring/editing scale and manual based display filters. If you can give your workflow/use case for this would be helpful as we work on this feature.
