Shared update setting during Group creation

This feels like a question that has a quick and obvious answer.

When creating a new group and I tick the "Shared update" option, when it comes time to invite new members I am unable to add my Mobile Worker user types - only Creators. I am an admin and am only trying to share within our Organisation. I have other groups set up with the Mobile Worker users, but as soon as I select Shared Update, it nerfs my ability to add them.

I presume it's something to do with restrictive editing permissions - but it does seem to entirely negate the purpose of the option. The ESRI documentation for Shared Updates makes absolutely no mention of such restrictions.

Thanks @Katie_Clark. That does seem to be the case. I want my workers to be able to edit each other's data, but don't want them fiddling with the content. In that context, it makes sense. Though, this isn't that clear in the ESRI documentation.

My understanding of the term "Update Shared Content" for a group is that it allows Creator user types to do "Save" instead of only "Save As" on web maps, apps, etc., that other people own. Otherwise, you'd need to be an admin to be able to do that for content owned by someone else.

With this in mind, it makes sense that Mobile Workers can't utilize this privilege, since they can't own content in AGOL. Editing data vs. editing content are different things, within the context of AGOL.

G'day @AdrianWelsh . Thanks very much for the quick response. Yeah, it's one of those baffling ESRI things I often come across.

I just ran a test to change the role of the Mobile Workers from Data Editor to a custom setup. It has the same result I am afraid, with the only option when you tick "Shared Group" being to add the GIS creators (who are also the admins).

Unless I can get some clarification from an ESRI boffin, it looks like the Mobile Worker category cannot be added to a Shared Group.
