Selecting polygons in map, filter sheet button, Does not show record in table on large datasets

I have been testing ArcGIS for Excel for 2 weeks. I find it a bit frustrating so far.   It seems to work well for small datasets but I tried using it with feature service layers that have 26,000 and 80,000 records.  When selecting a polygon on the map and using the Filter sheet button the table does not show the record. This works fine on my smaller feature layers.   However, it will not work on the larger datasets.

Other frustrating things (ESRI  please fix)

1)  After clearing the selection in the map.  The map automatically zooms back out to the full extent of the layers.  This is dumb.  What if you want to work in an small area updating features and every time you unselect a polygon it zooms to full extent and and then you have to zoom all the way back into that area. Maybe there is a setting to stop this I haven't seen?  If not there needs to be.   Also there is a lot of steps to filter the record in the table.  As soon as you click on it, it would be nice if it would zoom to that record in the table to edit it with other steps.

2) When clicking on the Sync with ArcGIS button it brings in new layers from the rest service that I did not want in the map.  It brings in all the layers that were published from  the ArcGIS Pro map.  Why would it be set to do this? I have to then go in and remove all those layers.

If there are any solutions to these issues, please let me know.

Thank you for posting your experience. In your post you mentioned, what seems like 3 different issues. So lets dive in, one at a time.

1. When selecting a polygon on the map and using the Filter sheet button the table does not show the record.

Reply: Our team was not able to reproduce this, sometimes these quirky issues or failures become data specific. Are you able to share your dataset? You may DM me if that is helpful. 

2. The map automatically zooms back out to the full extent of the layers. (your unfiltered response made me chuckle).

Reply: There is the option to set a custom home extent. To do this follow the steps here. 

3. When clicking on Sync with the ArcGIS button it brings in new layers from the rest service that I did not want in the map. 

Reply: This is a loaded workflow! This issue occurs because the Sync or Overwrite process updates the entire feature service based on the source ArcGIS Pro map. When you sync, the client (like a web map or Pro) often pulls the current state of the entire service. I assume you could create a hosted feature layer  in which you could work with the isolated layer rather than all the layers from the feature service. But than again I would need to understand the workflow completed prior to bringing it to ArcGIS for Excel. Please elaborate if the hosted feature layer workaround doesn't meet the needs here.
