Suggestions for converting this Shortlist Project

Hello everyone!

I'm currently working on this Shortlist project to convert it to the current template and looking for ideas - the images are no retrievable (and the project owner knows that, so skipping that part) but I'm trying to figure out a way to still preserve the ability to click on the tabs and have it filter the map out.

Tamsui Routes

The original data is no longer retrievable (I have no idea how they originally created it - there's a Web Map, but nothing is selectable, so I can't really edit the data at all) so I reconstructed it as a feature layer in ArcGIS Pro in a file geodatabase. I have uploaded that successfully to ArcGIS Online to experiment with. 

Here is what I was trying:

• Originally I was thinking to try a Map Tour and filter it by categories, but some of the places are in multiplate categories, so that doesn't work. It also does have a way to pull in the description information if I create the Map Tour with a feature layer, versus just from scratch. So when I tried the map tour it was just category titles and no additional info. 

I was thinking - maybe a Sidecar with a heading 1 added to each slide, and then create a map for each tab? So if you click on the table of contents headers, it would go to the corrent one OR utilizing map actions in some way to filder the information in a Sidecare. Creating a map for each tab/category would be a little painful, but I still have time until the deadline so I could make it work.....

Long story short --> I just need a way to click a value, have it filter on the map by route, and show the description information.

Hi @SaraJL - one option that might work well here is the Exhibit template in ArcGIS Instant Apps. It can be a good fit for clicking through tabs to view different routes, while still allowing users to interact with the points on the map and view pop-up information.

I tried setting up a sample using the same dataset - Sample Exhibit App using the Tamsui Routes data. 

A couple of notes that might help in case you use Exhibit - 

• The side panel layout in Exhibit effectively creates clickable tabs that users can move through.
• You’ll want to use Full Setup mode so you can enable the side panel layout. Also, the full setup mode offers more configuration options than the express mode.
• If you need additional explanatory text beyond pop-ups, you could also use slide notes within Exhibit.
• The Tamsui Routes data I found in ArcGIS Online has a field called Tab Index in the attribute table. In my sample app, I used this field to set up each tab/slide and applied an Attribute Filter per slide using Tab Index to filter the map by route.

Might be worth a try to see if it fits your workflow better than rebuilding multiple maps!
