Show/hide qaqc questions Survey123 Connect

Hi dear community, I am fighting with this stuff around 5 months....So I'm working on a survey for field measurments in water (pH, EC, DO, etc) so my field workers should run a qaqc measure when they rich 10 samples of water. Translate to survey123, I already set the question "qaqc" so that every 10 repeated answers that includes a resutl, shows a decimal question in which the worker should put the value of the qaqc. At this point everything works, but when I tested the survey with 20 answers, when I try to navigate to the previous or even the 15 or 4th anwer, the "qaqc" question appears in every record....

This is a problem that I can´t solved it since I need that the "qaqc" question only appears every 10 records and when I want to go back to previous ones, it doesn't request data.

If anyone knows how to made it, I will really appreciate it because I had work in this for months with no possitive results.

By the way....I can't share my entire survey because it's confidencial and I can´t share much of this innovation in my country, sorry for that by I will give any details you need.

You can use the "mod" operator to do this.

Try this in your relevant column for your QAQC question:

((position(..) mod 10) = 0)

This will get the position of the repeat, divide by 10. if the remainder is 0 it will be relevant meaning 10th, 20th etc.

If you are using count then once() can help otherwise as you scroll back it is recalculating the count on you is why. position(..) can cause infinite loops in some forms so if does that (it will give a warning at the top right of connect) use once(count()) instead.

I also do a bunch of soil/groundwater sampling, and this is a pretty common request for QA/QC.

I would do both. What @Neal_t_k has is the easiest way to get your desired outcome (i.e., question appears every 10 samples). But wrapping that in a once() like @DougBrowning suggested will ensure no strange repeat shenanigans.

once((position(..) mod 10) = 0)

Though both suggestion will work on their own.

Thanks you all for help, I appreciate it so much. Also I miss an important info....so sorry about that....my trigger is 10 in situ measurements, I mean, when I achieve 10 in situ measurements, it should pop up the question "qaqc". Also, in example, when we reach the 10th measurement its not mandatory that we are in sample 10th, so it could be 13. here I share my relevant condition that I used but as I said, it's generating "qaqc" in every answere when it satisfied the condition (10th measurements).

I'm not using Count() or position(..) because I have a select_multiple question where the worker choose in situ parameters per sample. Maybe another idea or configuration?

I can't tell for sure but assume somewhere you are counting the number of ph samples to get ${total_aguas_qagc}?

If I am reading it correctly, In that case you can use ${total_aguas_qagc} in the above formula instead of position, from your screenshot something like this : selected(${ensayos},'ph') and (${total_aguas_qagc} mod 10) = 0)

Thank you @Neal_t_k, I appreciate your answere. Yes, I'm counting manually because it doesn't works when I try with mod, but I will retry again. I think the problem isn't that, I mean, what I can't handle is that when I satisfied the calculation, I can't go back in repeats because I pops the question "qaqc" in every sample that I register, so as I mention, in example if I have 20 in situ measurements, I can't check the info of sample 19, 18, 17...and on because it request me data for qaqc that I don't have. Sorry if my english is not perfect and I'm not explanning as well

Yep, I try with mod but it stills poping up the question in every repeat record and I can't scroll back in the records without filling the question.

Also I tried with once() and same thing....Thank you all again and if you have any other suggestion, I"ll appreciate it so much

Thank you so much for help it finally works! I don't know what was wrong because I got the same questions but not like "note", they were "hidden", probably that was the mistake and also "once()" is the principal solution.

@AlejandroAnchundia As a follow up, it could still do some unintended things, Like if you go back to a previous repeat and change to or from ph, it won't recalculate with that once() function so just be aware of that possibility.
