This year’s Map the Future 2025 outreach has officially wrapped, and what an extraordinary journey it has been! What started as a simple passion to introduce young people to the world of GIS has grown into one of the most impactful geospatial education programs in Nigeria this year.
From Monday, November 17th to Friday, November 22nd, our team moved across communities, schools, and local governments, spreading knowledge, light, and hope for a tech-driven future.

This year’s success was possible through the unwavering support of our partners:
The Highlights
Students handled live geospatial demos, maps, and digital tools.
They learned how GIS helps solve real problems like flooding, waste management, road mapping, and community planning.
Many students expressed interest in careers in GIS, data analysis, surveying, and environmental science.
Teachers requested future training and collaboration for GIS clubs and map labs.
For many of these students, it was their first time seeing maps come alive through technology—and you could see the spark in their eyes.
A Dream Fulfilled, And a New One Born
This year, Map the Future wasn’t just an outreach.
It became a movement.
A movement to democratize geospatial knowledge.
A movement to take GIS beyond classrooms.
A movement to give African youth the tools to understand—and solve—the problems around them.
And truly, my dream has come to pass and this year’s outreach was bigger, brighter, and more impactful than ever.
