Stop Automatic Log-in in ArcGIS Pro

Hello -

Does anyone know how to permanently clear a log-in profile out of ArcGIS Pro? Long story short, I was doing some troubleshooting for a user and needed to log into Pro to check something - now it won't stop automatically logging in my profile instead of the person who needs to log in.

I went through the portal settings and reset the login - but I think I need to delete the portal and re-add it, but it's grayed out????

We use SAML authentication - so I'm specifically needing it to start over from fresh and do the 2 Factor Authentication and all of that

I've tried Signing out multiple ways - and it just automatically signs me back in. I also tried signing through the browser, and that still won't pick up the correct log in (will still sign in Pro as me even if the other user signs into ArcGIS Online). I've even tried clearing out all my browser caches and this did not help.

Forgetting the log in also doesn't work - logging out, closing the program, reopening it - nothing seems to trigger a fresh log-in window.

Help! Open to any recommendations - otherwise I think the only other option is to completely delete ArcGIS Pro and re-add it. But I'm hoping I don't have to do that.

I see it's not that simple... Thanks for the feedback, @SaraJL. Then it might not be a bad idea to try @DanPatterson's suggestions, starting by the soft reset. Good luck!

We checked the Credential Manager and it does not save ArcGIS Pro credentials (it saves all my Adobe ones under the sun though)

I'll probably hold the config file thing in reserve - just because it may be safer to just uninstall/reinstall at that point. We did look at the Registry though and tried to adjust the files there (aka SignIn_Old and creating a new registery file) but it still skips the 2FA even with new registry files.

I also tried this! A couple of issues came up when attempting this -

- Because it keeps by-passing the 2FA, we're unable to add a second unique account to ArcGIS Pro in order to switch it in the portal settings

- When I was talking with tech support, we were able to add a duplicate account (one through our org and one with just an arcgis.com) but the original connection is grayed out in the settings. If you add a second connection, this one you CAN delete. But the original one doesn't allow for it.

Long story short - because it's currently bypassing the 2FA part, we can't add a second account in order to really try this. But if we add a duplicate account, the original connection doesn't allow for it to be deleted, so it's difficult to test it.

(See screenshot - if I add another account, switch this to the active account (the green checkmark) the original connection is still grayed out. I can re-set it as an active portal, but not delete it.)

I also have full admin permissions, so I don't think that is a factor.

Hello @SaraJL, seeing your initial screenshot, have you tried to 'Add portal' (and so to add a new portal connection being https://www.arcgis.com or maybe try with https://yourorg.maps.arcgis.com) and ask the other user -your colleague- to login?

Then, if you manage to achieve that first step, can you then set your colleague's session as 'Set as active portal'?

If he/she has an ArcGIS Pro license (you will see the 'key' logo appear too), then I guess you should be able to "Remove your own Portal Connection" while he/she would remain connected in ArcGIS Pro.

I would give it a try at least...

This was the first thing I did! I'm starting ArcGIS Pro without clicking on a project, I also signed out before rebooting the program.

If I try to open the project from scratch, I click on the org button, and it just automatically bypass the 2FA without starting from scratch.

Is AGOL licensing your ArcGIS Pro? That may be why. Possibly check the licensing tab.
I'd check the Windows Credential Manager on your desktop and try removing any Pro-related credentials.
There's going to be some config within the %appdata% of ArcGIS Pro with reference to that Portal connection. I'd give it a google for where exactly. Obviously beware of corruption and keep a copy of the original config file.

Start Pro without an aprx (this can also be done within an aprx though) you should have a log-in with your name in the upper-right hand corner. Under the name you're logged in with, choose "sign-out" ... this should set things up to where you have log in using your SAML credentials from there.
