More and more of my clients are turning to Esri web frameworks to replace traditional web publishing platforms (mainly because most of my clients already have AGO Accounts). Because of this, I'm often asked to create websites using Experience Builder that would have typically been created using WordPress, Druple, or some other CMS. As many of us know, Experience Builder is NOT a drop in replacement for WordPress, but it could be A LOT easier to use if we were able to create custom style classes and assign those classes to certain widgets. Here's what I'm picturing...
In the left vertical menu, add a configuration group called "Custom Styles". This configuration window would allow the user to create a class in one of the available style categories. Here are some categories that come to mind:
- Text Styles
- Containers Styles
- Link Styles
- Button Styles
- Image Styles
Each of these style categories could have a "Default Class" style, so when you create a new element that belongs to a category, it defaults to that style class. You can easily change a widget's class using a dropdown in the widget settings.
Extra Credit: Each style class can be configured by screen size.
For those of us in the position of needing to create Experiences that look like nicely-designed websites, this improvement would save dozens of hours per project.
