The "Create hosted imagery" wizard is extremely slow even for a small raster dataset. Is there a similar tool like tile package we can generate then upload to AGO?
Yeah, we currently do not have the resources to maintain a dedicated imagery server. It would be helpful if ArcGIS Online offered a simpler, more user-friendly way to manage large hosted imagery datasets.
For example, users could create a time-enabled mosaic imagery layer in ArcGIS Online, upload new imagery through the Data tab, and edit the associated table directly.
ArcGIS Online imagery hosting is by value, not by reference, so all the data you want to host will be hosted in ArcGIS Online. You can replace the imagery within the imagery layer and keep the same item details through the Python API. For what you have described, Image Server would be offer the 'by reference' you are looking for and allow just the inputs to be updated without replacing the entire input dataset.
Hi @JeffreySwain No, I didn't, though I think the issue is the size. I was trying to upload a time-enabled mosaic with large referenced aerial imagery. When testing with smaller files, it worked. However, when the referenced aerial imagery is large (each file is more than 30 GB), the process becomes far too slow and inefficient.
If I remember correctly, there's also no simple way to add new imagery through ArcGIS Pro. You either have to republish the entire service or use a Python script.
