Maintaining Connectivity and Data Integrity During Edits in Utility Network

I'm working within a utility network in ArcGIS Pro and wanted to ask for help understanding best practices when updating asset information. Specifically, when editing attributes or geometry of features like water mains or service lines, what’s the recommended workflow to avoid breaking connectivity or introducing dirty areas that won't validate?

Also, are there any key differences in how updates should be handled between structure features and domain network features? I'm interested in hearing how others manage edits while maintaining network integrity, especially in larger enterprise environments.

Though I haven't worked specifically with utility network and this post is a bit old, I hope I can help a bit.

For updates to mains and services I create an edit version for updating those assets without affecting current network connectivity of the default. Generally this is the accepted technique for bringing the system up to date once projects are completed as far as I know. Using versioning to you can reconcile your edits against the default before posting them (though I have occasionally run into some issues with this in the past). I would hope this would help avoid creating dirty areas or at least not introducing them into production.

I have only worked with geometric networks so I'm not sure I can help with the second question. I would just say that keeping network connectivity and accurately representing what is in the ground are both paramount. Crews knowing that there is a stretch of cast iron water main ending at a sleeve and where is more important to them than knowing when it was put in (in most cases).
