What's new in ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud (May 2025)

We are excited to announce version 3.9 of ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. Available now.

.ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud is for creative professionals who want to design data-driven maps in Adobe Illustrator. This update brings new features designed to enhance your mapping experience. Here's what's new:

More ArcGIS symbols—The new World Navigation Map (Places).ai symbols library, which is included with your download when you install the extension, includes vector icons for all the place symbols from the World Navigation Map (Places) basemap. Place symbols represent hospitals, airports, beaches, and many more types of places. You can find the library in the Adobe Illustrator files under Presets > en_US > Symbols > ArcGIS Maps. Use the Symbols process to replace raster symbols with vector point symbols.
Improved AIX post-processing—Opening .aix files and replacing brushes, symbols, and swatches run much faster.
Callout symbols appear in their own layer—If you open an .aix file that includes callout text symbols, those symbols now appear in their own sublayer in the halos layer.
Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud at UC 2025—The Esri User Conference returns to San Diego in July. This year’s conference has over 700 sessions, including over 200 technical sessions. You can find presentations made by our team by searching for ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud in the Detailed Agenda.
Photoshop and GeoEnrichment deprecation—The May 2025 (3.9) release of ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud is the final version to support Adobe Photoshop. It is also the final release to support the enrichment (Add Demographic Data) tool. Future development will focus on supporting ArcGIS and Adobe Illustrator workflows. Hi Thomas, thanks for the post, excited to dive in. Can you clarify a bit, both here and from the hyperlink, on what is meant by "under Presets > en_US > Symbols > ArcGIS Maps" Is this in the actual Illustrator symbols library folder navigation, or is this somewhere saved locally on user's machines? On a standard install, where would that exist?

Hi @SBushey_Dewberry! Yes, I'm referring to the folder's location in your machine's local files.

On my computer, this is the full path location of the files. I'm on Windows so I'm using File Explorer.

Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2025\Presets\en_US\Symbols\ArcGIS Maps

Hi @ThomasCoughlin Thank you for your response. I've navigated to this directory on my local machine and this folder was not installed with the extension.

I assume I can just create my own subfolder for ArcGIS Maps without a problem, but is there a way to provide a direct download to the World Navigation Map (Places).ai symbols library?
