Error of Agent is already registered

Hello, since I couldn't successfully upgrade to Monitor 2024.1.1 as it seems there is some database corruption. I went ahead and decided to start with a fresh install on a new machine with a new database. My issue is when I started adding my agents again, I am unable to register them with the new machine. It says that Agent is already registered. I started with the server machines and before doing the registration I went into the admin properties of server and removed the monitorSystemId and even deleted the usage reports. Restarted server but I am still unable to register the agent.

Can anybody point me into the steps to follow for this approach for server and portal?

I would really appreciate your help.

Hi @DerekLaw, I was able to fix my issue by deleting the " C:\Users\[ArcGISMonitorServiceAccount]\AppData\Local\ESRI\ArcGISMonitor\config-store-client" folder before re-installing the client software.

Hi @DerekLaw

When re-registering the agent the host component names are reset to FQDN, labels and metrics remain. The ArcGIS components are fine.

I've had a few occasions now where ArcGIS Monitor server isn't running for a week and all the agents disconnect. I believe the agent token times out after a week, is there a way to change this?

There used to be an issue related to passwords that contained an ampersand back in the Monitor 2023 release, but to my knowledge this was addressed.

Please contact Esri Tech Support so they can take a closer look.

Hello @DerekLaw , thank you for your suggestion. I tried that, but it doesn't work. The error now is "Selected Agen is not available for registration". The main thing is that ArcGIS Server still thinks that is registered to the old server monitor hostname. This is a new install of monitor server. Both server and agent have the same version of 2024.1.1.

Can you please try and re-register the AM Agent, including the --agent-id flag?

If the agent is already present in ArcGIS Monitor Server, then you need to include this flag, followed by the ID of the agent in question. You can find the agent ID by going to ArcGIS Monitor Server > Monitoring > Agents, and enabling the ID column:

To re-register the agent, the command should look like this:

./arcgis-monitor-agent.exe admin:system:register --server-url https://agmserver:30443/arcgis --username admin --password MyPassword!1 --agent-id 2
