I am not sure how this could be accomplished, but, I would like to be able to have different geometry for polygon features in a view layer separate from its parent layer. Perhaps a one way workflow that pulls new features into a view or identical layer that could be edited manually separate from the parent layer? That way I could simplify the amount of vertices or points that make up a polygon as they are pulled in rather than maintaining 2 different layers of the same data.
Use Case / Issue: We work with a aerial crop dusting company once a year and their systems can only handle so much data. The planes need simple polygons with a few vertices or points as possible. Traditionally we have maintained 2 separate layers of polys to accomplish this. I want a single source to maintain. In our day to day operations we want the complex geometry for the polygons but for the crop planes we could use much simpler geometry for the same dataset to ensure there is no lag in their systems and to help them be able to see no spray areas easier.
Additional Comments and Ideas: From talking with the pilots, there is not a lot out there in the crop dusting world and they deal mostly with KMLs but their equipment and software can use shape files. This type of work is specialized with few vendors and I think ESRI could make a nice profit if they invested into products and workflows in this field.
