Expose Web Feature Layer definition queries in the GUI

Hi there,

This idea asked about definition queries on Web Feature Layers. While this is available through an AutoLISP command on adding the service to the map, it would be better for end users if this was available through either A: the add data gui when adding a service, or B: via the Esri contents right click context menu. Option B would let the user update the definition query later as well.

Hello @Marc_Graham,

We appreciate the feedback with your ArcGIS for AutoCAD workflows. I do not know what version you are currently using but the latest, 435, does actually have the functionality you are asking for here. There are two different locations a user can set the query expression on the web feature layer.

For option A:

Add data by URL

For option B:

Oh yup sorry I see that now.

Those both work well.

It would be great if you could provide a more user friendly interface for defining these queries, as CAD users may not be able to find things like the actual field names if they have aliases, which could cause confusion.
