Symbol in Contents pane is blank or mismatches actual symbol

The Legend in the contents pane in ArcGIS Pro does not match the way the symbology looks on the map. This happened to me after experimenting with symbol layers to create a specific look on the map.

Here is what is looks like right now...

The 'Not Constructed' symbol is blank on the contents pane.

The missing symbol is the orange line with an offset and label.

There are two layers with several effects on the Symbology pane for the affected symbol.

You'll see that the top layer is blank. That is the layer where the label comes from and is blank because the content is dynamic. But that seems to be where the legend is coming from.

If I type something into the text field for that label, it changes the symbol...

Is there any way to make the legend show up a single orange line?

Not really. It'll show up correctly in the actual layout legend, at least.

The issue is that the Contents pane doesn't recognize that the offset is important, too. It has a set amount of space to draw the patch, and if that space doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. It would be nice if it scaled, and if you wrote an Idea for it, I'd probably upvote it.

One thing that you might be able to do depending on how big the offset is: Change the shape of the patch. Your mileage is going to vary a lot here, but depending on the size of the offset and the line thickness, changing the shape can make different parts of the symbol show up better

The other thing to do might be is make an orange line with no offset that you just turn off when it's time to print the map.
