Source was changed but symbology did not update

Question

I changed the source of a layer from a polygon feature class to a line feature class; however, the symbology still shows a polygon symbol. The only thing I can find is how to change the outline line of a polygon, but not how to change the polygon to line?

So the polygon layer in the Contents Pane still thinks it's a polygon hence the polygon symbology.  I would remove the polygon layer from the Contents Pane and add the the new line feature class from the Catalog Pane to the Map View.  Then ArcGIS Pro will recognize the geometry as a line and provide line symbology options.
