Hi GIS Community,
I’ve been working on converting BIM files into GIS-compatible formats, including SLPK, and encountered a challenge when visualizing BIM files in ArcGIS Pro's Local/Global Scenes. Specifically, I noticed an inconsistency in how these files align with Esri's basemaps and the 3D surface "WorldElevation3D/Terrain3D" layer from Esri.
Here’s the issue:
- Some BIM files align perfectly with the 3D surface when the surface layer is turned on.
- However, others appear below the 3D surface, even though they align correctly with Esri basemaps when the surface layer is turned off.
Notably, all these BIM files share the same horizontal and vertical coordinate systems.
I suspect the issue is related to the Z-values in the BIM files, particularly those coming from Revit. To troubleshoot, I attempted to adjust the Z-value of the Project Base Point within Revit. Unfortunately, this didn’t resolve the issue in ArcGIS Pro, possibly due to my limited experience with Revit and BIM workflows.
