Field Maps Designer Error: No global ID cannot take layer offline

I use ArcGIS online to create maps that I then use for field maps. Recently when I have been trying to create the offline area in field map designer I have been having issues. When I go to sync the layers to create the offline map I get a message saying that the layer does not have a global id and that it can't be used in offline mode. When I would try and create an offline area with that layer in the map it would fail to make the offline area. I then went into ArcPro and added global id's to the shps and tried putting those in the map. The error message about the global id went away but when I go to create the offline area it just says "packaging" forever and never actually packages. Anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing it to not make the offline areas? Below is my general work flow:

Create shps in ArcPro
Put shps in a zip folder, I have also tried saving them to a GDB and using that.
Upload shps/ GDB into ArcGIS online map
Save map and update sharing to organization
Open field maps designer
go to offline mode, sync layers, then go to manage offline areas and create a new area.

Not that I am aware of (but that doesn't mean it isn't possible).

If this were me, I would open ArcGIS Pro and navigate to the catalog pane > portal > add the HFL to the map.

Then follow the steps above that @Hailey_G laid out to assign GlobalID's.

From there, open the web map in AGOL > settings > make sure offline is enabled.

And you should be good to go!

So we can't assign incremental IDs in the webmap itself? For instance, I have multiple zipped shapefiles already loaded, formatted, etc. on ArcGIS Online. Are these unusable for offline maps? i.e. I can't autoassign Unique IDs in my webmap?

There may be an easier way... ArcPRO > Share > Web Map.
Make sure to 'analyze' before publishing. This will let you know if you're missing any GlobaIDs and give you option to add. It will let you know if any coordinate system errors are present and need fixed.
From there, you can update sharing and open in Field Maps designer.

@GlennSlade I think I found a solution. My workflow is below:

1. in Acrpro you must save you shp/ feature class into a geodatabase (WGS84 coordinate system).

2. once saved in the GDB, use the tool "Add global IDs". You need to do it for each feature class, but you can do them all at once with the tool.

3. zip the GDB and upload it to the ArcGIS online map and continue work flow as usual. This seemed to work for me.

I also tried sharing as web layers from ArcPro to ArcOnline and that worked like 2 times and then stopped working for some reason. The above work flow is the only consistent one I have found.

Thank you! So strange, I tried it and it worked for one map and then not for another. Seems to be hit or miss for me.

Following for any more advice, as I am having the same issue.

I raised a support case and got the following back from ERSI. It's a known bug and there is a tentative work around, which unfortunately it didn't work for me but it may work for you:

Regarding taking the layer offline Could you please try the following:

- Disable all editing settings such as, Enable editing, Keep track of created and updated features, Keep track of who created and last updated features, and Enable sync of the parent layer and its associated view layer.

- Re-enable all settings in the parent layer, and re-enable all settings in its view layer. Sync can be enabled successfully.

The above bug is a known issue and is currently in the product plan. The current work around is shown above and in the public article.

I'm interested to see if anyone else has any other suggestions.
