Why do I get an error when trying to Sign in to ArcGIS Online

Back story: I had the latest ArcGIS visual loaded within a .pbix file that I had connected successfully to my ArcGIS Online account and loaded with a feature layer from my ARCGIS Online account.

1. I saved the .pbix file with the ArcGIS visual to new name
2. Within the new .pbix file I proceeded to the ArcGIS visual with the intent to add another feature layer.
3. I discovered that I was no longer logged in, so I tried to login to my ArcGIS Online account within the visual but the "login" screen gave me no such option. Here's what I was presented with:

Why is there no apparent way to login here?

4. With no apparent way to log in I deleted the ArcGIS visual
5. I added a new ArcGIS visual to the ,pbix file and then pressed the Sign In button
6. The following error message was displayed

I have X and Y points in my PBI data so I loaded the data in and tried to login again, only to find myself back at step 3 again.

Two issues:

Why was I not presented with a login page at step 3?

Why did I get an error message at step 6?

Hi, I had the same issue as well. I think it's due to the recent updates. A lot of other users have been complaining.

This worked for me, so feel free to try:

On your local system, navigate to the following locations:
- .exe version—%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop (for example, <user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop)
- Microsoft Store version—C:\Users\<user>\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop Store App
Delete the CEF folder.
Delete the WebView2 folder.
Delete the Cache folder.
Restart your machine.

Thanks for this. While I didn't find a CEF folder, I deleted the other two, restarted Power BI, inserted a new ArcGIS Map visual and (most importantly) I was able to sign into my AGOL account and load a feature class into the visual.

However, this is merely a work around. The issue can still be easily replicated by following my original steps. I think most would agree that these steps are typical activity for anyone who creates Power BI reports, so I hope ESRI folks are reading this thread and will address this bug.

I have the same bug, and it happens if I've sat on a report for a week (doing other things), and get logged out.

I can create a new visual and login, but I cannot login with my existing visuals.

This is a really obnoxious bug for me. The only workaround is to delete the logged-out visuals and recreate them. It costs me a lot of work. And then, I can only work on that visual for a week before it gets logged out and I'm locked out and have to do it all again.

I have the same issues as DougHolland, but just discovered that if you follow this work around you can preserve all your settings in your ArcGIS visual after it signed you out of ArcGIS (no need to delete it and start all over again)

1. Before opening Power BI follow the steps offered by FloraAdekola

2. Open your Power BI report in Power BI Desktop with the ArcGIS visual that you can no longer sign into

3. Create a new report page and create a new ArcGIS visual

4. Sign into the new ArcGIS visual

5. Switch back to the page with the original ArcGIS visual. You should find that you are signed in and can perform functions such as Add Content from AGOL
