It would be great to have the ability to update the statistics in the data engineering window based on the selection -or- based on the whole dataset. It is possible to create a definition query and the stats then update according to the remaining features, but I can't do this by a selection. I need to copy the selected data into a new dataset first.

I don't know why this wasn't working for me the other day, but it is working today. There is an indicator at the bottom that says how many features were used to calculate the statistics.
