Hi everyone! I'm excited to join the ESRI community. My question has to do with linking latitude/longitude to county in the US.

Details - 

I have a spreadsheet containing latitude and longitude for survey respondents' household/place of residence. 

I want an indicator of county of residence and would like to know how best to use ArcGIS to link their lat/long coordinates to the county they live in. Thank you!

One way to do this would be a spatial join.

First get some data for counties

Cartographic Boundary Shapefiles - Counties - Geography - U.S. Census Bureau 

Add your sheet to ArcGIS and make points from lat long

How To: Import XY data tables to ArcMap and convert the data to a shapefile 

Use Spatial Join—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop to add the county info to the points
