Adding to a 3D DTM to make is visually appealing

Hi all,

Not sure if this is possible but I want to make my 3D DTM look a little more appealing. Is there a way to add a block/depth to the DTM to make it more visually appealing. I've crudely used a example from the web below, but gives you an idea of what I would like to do. Is this possible?
