Radio Button into Integers for Calculations

Hello!

I'm currently working on a survey that's primary use is to evaluate barn assets. The inspector will be giving a value to each of the assets (walkways, slats, troughs, etc.) based on the priority of repair work needed. Then each category (concrete, structure, penning, etc.) will receive an average value that will then be calculated with all other categories to then give the barn an overall score of 1, 3, or 5.

Ex. Value: 0 = N/A, 1 = Repairs needed now, 3 = Repairs needed in three years, and 5 = Repairs in 5 years

I'm able to calculate them if I have the style/type as a number for each asset and then calculate the mean (average) in a new number question.

However, the person wanting the survey prefers the look of the single select grid. So I'm trying to see if I can calculate the value of the radio buttons for each row of the grid and then have it auto-populate the answer below.

Is there anyway that you can do this? I do have Survey123 Connect as well and can show my layout if needed.

Thanks for your question - as long as I'm understanding what you are trying to achieve, I think this should be easily done within Survey123 Connect. 

You will want to set up your choices so that the "name" has the number associated with it that will be used for the calculation and then the "label" can be the name shown in your Survey. 

You can then set up a calculated question below your table list with a formula in the calculate column that calculates the mean of each of those choices.
