How can make a layer editable?

Question

Hello, using ArcGIS Pro 3.1.2.  How can I change a new map layer to be editable?  I've tried to follow the various ESRI help articles, but I cannot find an "enable editing" selection.

Note:  I used to be able to edit layers and also create features on layers, so something must have accidently changed some settings.

You're trying to edit a raster layer, which you can't do, as it says  in the error message and when you hover over the red exclamation mark.

In ArcGIS Pro, editing is automatically enabled. If you want to do it manually, you have to change it in the options.
