I am using the ARCGIS 10.1 for course on 7 February 2023. This is for the Air Force reserves. I am trying the system set up on my laptop.

Could you share more details about your query? Also please mention what ArcGIS product are you working with (ArcMap/ Server), so that I can push this question to the correct space. Also please share your system configurations (including OS).
Just to let you know, ArcGIS 10.1 has been deprecated long ago. If there is a possibility to upgrade it to the latest version, I would recommend going for it.
